Yesterday was a great "basketball camp" day. We were up and running from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. The kids were very tired by the end of the day. The talent level is very high at the camp. The Santa Clara staff says that it is the best group they have had.
Kreuser started off well yesterday but unfortunately his knee injury is still bothering him. I don't think it is serious but tough to play basketball for 8 hours a day with a sore knee. On the bright side, Jake measured in at 7'0.25".
Other MN guys here:
Joe Coleman- Hopkins
Syani Chambers (not sure exactly how to spell his first name)- Hopkins
Zach Stahl- Hopkins
Anthony Diloretto- Hopkins
Ray Cowels- Hopkins
Nick Latzke (didn't miss a shot all day yesterday)- Minnetonka
Chance Creekmur- IA by way of Net Gain (Chance has been the best player in the entire camp)

On The Road
Senior center Jake Kreuser and I flew into San Fransisco late last night. We are here for Santa Clara's elite camp. I will be working the camp and Jake will be using this time as an unofficial visit. Santa Clara is one of the schools that has already offered Jake a scholarship.
I went to high school, and I am close friends with Santa Clara assistant coach James Ware.
I will try to check in a couple times to update you on the trip.

Father's Day
We spent this Father's day at Minnetonka high school playing in a Breakdown one day tournament. We went into the day without two of our key guys, Jimmy Ryan and Jake Kreuser. They were playing in an AAU event with MN Select in Mankato. While I would always like to have a full crew, it is good for some of the younger guys to play more and experiment with different roles.
We beat Northfield and Owatonna in the first two games of the day, each by double digits. Both were scrappy squads but I think our physicality overwhelmed them a little bit. In the championship game we lost to Hopkins by what I think ended up being 6. We were down 2 with 20 seconds left and the ball and ended up turning it over. I think we were more physical than Hopkins but they are so skilled. They really make teams pay for minor defensive mistakes. Overall, it was a good summer basketball game. They made more key plays down the stretch.
I would probably pick Mike Rostampour as the tournament MVP. We have played 8 games this summer as a Sibley team and nobody has really had an answer for his aggressive play. Jordan Jackson was tough. He did a great job handling the ball, finishing around the basket, and probably did his best work on the defensive end. Sophomore guard Dante Grant played very well in all 3 games. We don't see him as much as we would like because he is a very good football and baseball player as well. I really think that if he works hard at basketball he has a chance to be special. He is a good athlete, who does most things well, he just lacks the polish that comes from competing every night in open gym and really working on your individual skills. The thing I liked best about him today was that he did not seem at all bothered by the Hopkins pressure.
We have open gym on Monday and Wednesday this coming week 6:00-8:00 P.M. At Henry Sibley. All are welcome!

MBA 6/14 Bracket Play
We won all 3 games today going 5-0 for the weekend. We beat Spring Lake Park by about 40, Osseo by 14, and St. Louis Park by about 25.
It was another well-run tournament by Sean Kruger and the Hamline coaching staff. Overall, a good first outing for my guys in new roles. The biggest surprise of the weekend for me was the play of one of our junior guards, Bobby Wills. He was a difference maker on the defensive end in each of the games.
It wasn't a surprise but Mike Rostampour was the best player in the tournament by far. We didn't keep official stats but I don't think there was a game out of the five that he didn't have at least 20 points and 10 rebounds minimum while often guarding the other teams best player- wing or post. There are kids that are more skilled but there is not a kid in the state that is more physical or plays as consistently hard with the motor that Mike has.

MBA Update 6/13
We played Minnehaha Academy and Farmington today and beat each by 30+. We also had a forfeit.
Tomorrow we begin bracket play at 9:00 A.M.
We played pretty well especially on the defensive end. Junior guard Bobby Wills set the tone with his full court pressure and Mike Rostampour was a load on the glass as usual. Overall, not a bad first outing. Everyone is getting used to new players and new roles.
